Sailing Off to My Dream: ANTARCTICA

Uncategorized

My heart is racing right now. I mean, really racing. This is it. This is the day. March 25, 2015. I’ve been dreaming about this day since 2011. I remember coming back from my first trip abroad and saying to myself, “I gotta see more of this world.” England and France were the countries that kicked off this journey. Being loved on by my Luton family in England motivated me to really start seeing more of this great, big world.

So in jest, I set a goal:  Visit all seven continents by 30.

And one by one, I  saw them. North America, Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia, South America, and today I set off for Antarctica.

I’m writing this from the bilioteca (library) in Ushuaia, Argentina. I’ll use their WiFi to call my great-grandmother (101) and my parents before boarding. My dad will probably say a quick prayer for me, my mom will probably give me her usual motherly advice on being wise and prayerful, and my great-grandma will probably scream a bit out of excitement and tell me to look my best even while I’m in the bitter cold. Gotta love Grandma Brown!

Well, I better get off of here. I need to get to those calls. I’m scheduled to board in an hour. We’ll embark in about three.  I solicit your prayers as we journey to this foreign land.

Before I go, I’d like to thank everyone who encouraged me these last three and a half years. Okay, tears are falling now. Thanks for believing in me, praying for me, giving me tips and advice, sharing my story, lending me your couch or shoulder, picking me up from bus stations, airports, train stations, giving me a pep talk and for just being a listening ear. Thank you. I’m so grateful for your part in this story. Thank you so much.

I look forward to sharing pictures and stories from this trip. I’ve asked God for three things for this trip:

1. To hear from God for direction.

2. Divine encounters/connections.

3. To cry because of the beauty of God’s Creation.

I don’t think number 3 will be hard to achieve at all, seeing that I’m wiping tears as I write from my tablet. 😉

Enough blabbering, time to get to those calls. Once again, I love you and thank you for the constant love.

Ciao for now!
